Oxiatar Cream

Oxiatar Cream is a customized prescription medication commonly used by dermatologists to target acne and its symptoms, including inflammation, redness, and the formation of new pimples. Tretinoin works to mitigate the formation of acne lesions and accelerate the healing process of existing blemishes. In topical medications, tretinoin is often used to treat acne, reduce fine wrinkles, and as a skin-lightening agent to address hyperpigmentation.

  • This particular cream contains tretinoin at a potency of 0.025%.

The combination of tretinoin and niacinamide is one factor that makes Oxiatar Cream clinically different from branded or generic medications.

SKNV’s Oxiatar Cream is also distinct from over-the-counter medicines because it is formulated without certain inactive ingredients that could be potential allergens or irritants for certain patients, as determined by the patient’s prescriber, including trolamine, alcohol, methylparaben, isopropyl myristate, and propylene glycol. 

Upon a provider’s request, hyaluronic acid can also be implemented into the Oxiatar Cream formulation as an inactive ingredient.

As a customized topical medication, providers generally prescribe applying a thin layer, pea-sized amount, or 1-2 pumps. You should apply a thin layer of the cream to clean, dry skin as part of a comprehensive skincare routine. Healthcare professionals normally advise one dose per day at night, but this may vary based on age and each patient’s acne severity.

If you realize that you missed a dose, apply the cream as soon as you remember; however, if you are close to applying your next dose, skip the missed dose. Try to keep a regular dosing schedule for optimal results with your prescription.Wash your hands before and directly after applying. Avoid the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes; if the topical cream touches these areas, immediately wash the treated areas. Also, do not apply this medication to a sunburn or open wound.

Tell your doctor immediately if you experience an allergic reaction while using your prescription. Applying tretinoin might lead to mild skin irritation, dryness, or susceptibility to sunburns. You may need to add a moisturizer to your routine to counteract skin dryness and prevent peeling. It is also beneficial to implement sunscreen for regular use and wear protective clothing to minimize sun exposure.
