Oxiazar Cream

Oxiazar Cream is a tailored prescription medication commonly used by dermatologists to target acne in its various manifestations. The active ingredients in SKNV’s Oxiazar Cream are agents that dermatologists commonly use to treat some of the most common acne symptoms. These active ingredients include: 

• Niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, is commonly used to reduce inflammation, a key factor in acne development. Its benefits include minimizing redness, evening out skin tone, and regulating the skin’s oil production. Also called Nicotinic Acid, niacinamide is often used to treat acne, eczema, skin discoloration, and more.

  • This particular cream contains niacinamide at a potency of 4%.

• Tretinoin is a derivative of vitamin A that is commonly used to promote cell turnover and prevent the clogging of hair follicles. Tretinoin works to mitigate the formation of acne lesions and accelerate the healing process of existing blemishes.  Tretinoin is often used to treat acne, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and as a skin-lightening agent to address hyperpigmentation.

  • This particular cream contains tretinoin at a potency of 0.1%.

The combination of tretinoin and niacinamide is one factor that makes Oxiatar clinically different from branded or generic treatment options.

SKNV’s Oxiazar Cream is also distinct from over-the-counter medicines because it is formulated without certain inactive ingredients that could be potential allergens or irritants for certain patients, as determined by the patient’s prescriber, including trolamine, alcohol, methylparaben, isopropyl myristate, and propylene glycol. 

Upon a provider’s request, hyaluronic acid can also be implemented into the Oxiazar Cream formulation as an inactive ingredient. 

It is vital that patients follow the instructions of their provider when applying Oxiazar Cream.

Generally, as a customized topical cream, patients are directed to apply a thin layer, pea-sized amount, or 1-2 pumps to clean, dry skin once a day (at night), but this may vary based on age and each patient’s acne severity.

It is best practice to maintain a regular dosing schedule. For optimal results with your prescription,Patients should wash their hands before and directly after applying the topical cream. Avoid the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes; if the cream touches these areas, immediately wash the treated areas. Also, it is not advised that patients apply this prescription cream to a sunburn or open wound.

If you experience irritation or an allergic reaction while using the medication, tell your doctor immediately. Applying tretinoin, as an active ingredient, might lead to mild skin irritation, dryness, or susceptibility to sunburns, so consult with your provider about the best response to these effects. It is common for prescribing physicians to advise the use of moisturizers to counteract skin dryness and prevent peeling and the use of sunscreen to minimize exposure to ultraviolet light.

Patients concerned about sunlight sensitivity and skin damage may also wear protective clothing to ensure they fully protect their skin.

When using Oxiazar Cream, patients should inform their prescribing physician of any other medications, supplements, or cosmetics/skincare products they are using concurrently with SKNV’s prescription. Providers should note possible interactions with other topical treatments (e.g., other retinoids) or oral medicines.
